First Announcement:
2010 China-ASEAN Timber and Wood Products Exhibition
Nov. 19-22 in Nanning, Guangxi, China
The "2010 China-ASEAN Timber and Wood Products Exhibition" will be held over four days between November 19-22, 2010 in Nanning city, Guangxi province (south-east corner of China and east of Hong Kong). This exhibition is jointly organized by China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association and Beijing Rhine International Exposition Co. Ltd. and is strongly supported by central governments from both China and 10 ASEAN countries.
While the China-ASEAN exhibition has occurred over the previous six years, the 7th annual exhibition will mark the first time that a completely separate timber and wood products exhibition has been organized. Nanning city has become the center of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA). CAFTA was officially established this year and is the largest free trade zone comprised of developing countries. ASEAN is now the world’s third largest free trade zone after the European Union and the North American Free Trade Zone. The trade value between China and ASEAN reached 106 billion USD in 2004 and 231 billion USD in 2008, or an average increase of 22% per year.
This event will be a great opportunity to view the fast developing China-ASEAN markets and trade, as well as providing a good platform to meet qualified wood products manufacturers, buyers and seller from both China and buyers from ASEAN countries. For the exhibition, many participants will be manufacturers to showcase their products. There also will be exhibition areas for wood machinery.
About 1,000 Chinese companies and 200 ASEAN companies are expected to attend the 2010 China-ASEAN Timber and Wood Products Exhibition:
- Chinese companies are mainly wood products and furniture manufacturers, and products include wood door/window, flooring, wood-based panels, furniture and other wood products.
- The ASEAN companies at exhibition are mainly timber raw material suppliers, furniture manufacturers, and traders looking to tap into China markets.
The '2010 Global Timber and Wood Products Trade & Investment Summit' will be held on Nov 19th, 2010, or on the first day of the exhibition. This one day "Summit" will feature high level government officials, Association leaders (both from China and ASEAN countries), international speakers, as well as representatives from a variety of large manufacturers, trading companies, distributors, investors, etc. The leading Chinese and international industry experts will make presentations to stimulate discussions on the latest wood industry and market information and trends and on trade opportunities. WOOD MARKETS will be participating in this event as it is expected to be a unique event to meet such a wide variety of Chinese and Asian producers, sellers and buyers in one location.

Conference Proceedings
Our best China conference ever, with top Chinese speakers and a strong contingent of international speakers, has just been completed, October 28 – 29, 2006! Over 220 international and Chinese delegates attended, with the conference being enriched by 40 table-top displays from Chinese and international manufacturers and organizations. The venue was first class and the conference received an overall rating from delegates of 5 out of a possible 6 points.
We had a good number of first time visitors to China this year, who gained an in-depth understanding of the market and wood industry in China, both from an importer’s and exporter’s perspective. The next wave of product and market opportunities covered during the conference were provided within the context of the many speaker presentations and product displays.
The delegate survey indicated that many participants would like to attend another conference in China next year. As a result, we are planning our 4th annual China conference in the fall of 2007. Please watch for our brochure and promotional material in the upcoming months.
Conference proceedings, complete with speaker presentations and available panel discussion presentations, are available now.
