BC Interior Industry & Mountain Pine Beetle Tour
May 5-7, 2013

This two-day pre-conference tour of Interior mills will be held from May 5-7, 2013 and will primarily focus on mills processing mountain pine beetle-killed timber. Participants will see the devastation caused by the mountain pine beetle in forests of the B.C. Interior as well as some of the latest operational initiatives in how the industry is coping with this major epidemic. We will tour some of the most modern mills in North America that are processing beetle-killed logs and examine the differences in green versus dead logs and also understand both logging and sawmilling economics as well as changes in lumber quality.
