The China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China) is an annual event where global wood traders meet in China. Established to facilitate and promote information exchange and business cooperation for the global wood trade community in 2011, GWT China takes place in one of China’s major port cities each year. Till now, seven cities, which are Tianjin, Taicang, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Shanghai, Wuhan and Chengdu, have witnessed the remarkable success of previous GWT China Conferences. Every year, GWT China attracts more than 350 participants, including wood suppliers, importers, wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers as well as trade associations, industry experts, government officials and representatives of international organizations from more than 20 countries.
As the biggest economic center of upper reach of Yangtze River, Chongqing is a city of strategic importance in the southwest industry and commerce, the center of national important hi-tech and intelligent production, and is also an important strategic city superimposed on the Yangtze River economic zone, the Belt and Road, Chengdu and Chongqing economic circle. Chongqing is backed by a large market with a population of 30 million people and is exposed to southwest China, and even the southeast and central Asia.
For a long time, Chongqing has been famed as the capital of wooden doors. Now, with the remarkable advantages of location and enormous potential market, Chongqing is making all efforts to build a multi-industry “business park” of wood trade, storage, manufacturing, etc., including a massive river port.
In 2018, the 8th GWT China aims to provide a platform to figure out future opportunities and challenges worldwide, meanwhile offering an insight into wood processing and trade of Chongqing. Additionally, the Conference works as a bridge between inland wood enterprises and global wood suppliers and manufacturers to push forward better communication within the industry and the sustainable development of wood trade, both at home and abroad.
